Reflective Practice Policy
Dolores Andrew
Encouraging Continuous Growth Through Reflection
Purpose
The purpose of this Reflective Practice Policy is to outline the importance of reflective practice for learners participating in my wellness training programmes. This policy provides guidance on how learners can use reflective practice to recognise their strengths and weaknesses, which in turn supports ongoing learning and personal development. As a sole trader, I am committed to fostering an environment that encourages self-directed learning and continuous improvement.
Scope
This policy applies to all learners enrolled in my wellness training programmes who are encouraged to engage in reflective practice as part of their learning journey.
Policy Statement
Reflective practice is a valuable tool that enables learners to critically evaluate their own learning experiences. By reflecting on their progress, learners can identify areas where they excel and areas that require further development. As a sole trader, I support the use of reflective practice to help learners take ownership of their learning, improve motivation, and enhance their skills over time.
Reflective Practice Process
Introduction to Reflective Practice
At the beginning of the training programme, learners will be introduced to the concept of reflective practice and its benefits.
I will provide guidance on how to engage in reflective practice effectively, including the use of a Reflective Practice Form.
Completing the Reflective Practice Form
Learners will be encouraged to complete a Reflective Practice Form at key stages of the training program (e.g., after assessments, workshops, or significant learning activities).
The form will prompt learners to consider:
What they have learned.
What they did well.
What challenges they faced.
How they can improve or build on their strengths.
Any further learning or development needs they have identified.
Using Reflection to Guide Learning
Learners will be encouraged to use their reflections to set personal learning goals and strategies for improvement.
I will review completed Reflective Practice Forms with learners if required and if there are questions on their delivery, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their goals.
Benefits of Reflective Practice
Reflective practice offers several benefits for learners, including:
Enhanced Self-Awareness: Understanding personal strengths and areas for improvement.
Improved Motivation: Setting and achieving personal goals can boost motivation and engagement.
Skill Development: Reflecting on experiences helps learners develop critical thinking and self-directed learning skills.
Ongoing Improvement: Regular reflection promotes continuous learning and professional growth.
Confidentiality and Support
All reflections shared by learners will be treated with confidentiality and used solely for the purpose of supporting their learning and development.
I am available to provide guidance and support throughout the reflective practice process.
Policy Review
This Reflective Practice Policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains effective and relevant to the needs of learners. Any updates to the policy will be communicated to participants.
